Help members access timely care
Review Magellan’s appointment access standards in California.
With the new year underway and setting goals fresh on our minds, it’s a good time to take a look at Magellan’s appointment access standards, which are crucial elements of quality member service.
For individual practitioners:
- Non-life-threatening emergent appointments: See the member within six hours of their request.
- Urgent appointments: See the member within 48 hours of their request (health plan member) or within 24 hours of their request (EAP member).
- Initial routine appointments: Non-prescribers see the member within 10 days of their request and prescribers within 15 days (health plan member) or within three days of their request (EAP member).
- Follow-up routine appointments: Non-prescribers see the member within 30 days and prescribers within 90 days.
Please review your practice operations and capacity to ensure that your practice is equipped to meet the appointment access standards outlined above. Meeting the access standards is required by your Magellan provider agreement.
